Dear Vassar Families,
I hope this communication finds you safe and well. I am reaching out to you today both as a proud fellow Vassar parent, and as the President of the Alumnae/i Association of Vassar College (AAVC).
I know, and share, the anxiety you are feeling today, as for all of us, our worlds have been upended. Extraordinarily difficult times such as these put into sharp relief all that truly matters, most especially family and friends.
I want you to know that all of Vassar’s nearly 40,000 alumnae/i share a strong feeling of connection with today’s Vassar students, and their families. We are here for you to offer solid support as the College resumes classes, utilizing the best of current technology to ensure that every student can continue pursuing a Vassar education.
Vassar’s career networking platform, VassarNet, is quickly becoming a critical tool for our graduating seniors. Many alumnae/i have signed up as career mentors and are ready to offer any assistance they can to our students who must enter the workforce at this profoundly challenging moment in history. Parents with career expertise to share are also encouraged to sign up and support our students with networking opportunities, advice, and/or job and internship postings.
Alumnae/i also have come forward in large numbers to contribute to the Vassar Student Support Fund, created to ensure every student can meet the extraordinary, unexpected expenses associated with emergency travel and distance learning technology -- and we will continue to do so.
We will get through this … together.
